Background
In mid-April 2025, Suzuki (a pseudonym), a resident of Osaka, formally engaged us to recover their assets.
The problem Suzuki faced
Suzuki had forgotten the password to an imToken wallet, leaving their Ethereum assets “frozen” for five years, with no way to withdraw them.
Over those five years, Suzuki had made numerous attempts and consulted several people, but made no progress. The assets existed on the blockchain, yet remained behind a door that would not open.
Suzuki’s situation
- Assets: 10 ETH
- Time inaccessible: Five years
- Cause: Forgotten imToken wallet password
- Password recollection: Vague, with inaccuracies in the clues provided
- Prior outlook: Had almost given up hope of recovery
- Five years earlier
Suzuki created an imToken wallet, deposited 10 ETH, and later forgot the password
- Mid-April 2025
Formally engaged our services. ETH was priced at approximately USD 1,500 at the time
- Late August 2025
Large-scale computing resources became available and were fully committed to this case
- August 29, 2025
The password was successfully cracked. ETH reached approximately USD 4,500 that day
Technical Recovery Process
Phase 1: Analyzing password patterns (from mid-April)
After accepting the case, we held several detailed consultations with Suzuki to reconstruct the thought process and habits involved in setting the password five years earlier.
We asked Suzuki about the password characteristics they remembered and used those details to build an initial database of candidate passwords.
Obstacles during the process
Because the amount involved was relatively small, we initially attempted recovery using standard computing capacity, without immediately allocating large-scale computing resources.
More significantly, the password clues provided by the client contained errors. Inaccurate recollections sent the initial cracking effort in the wrong direction, which was the main reason the project took longer.
Phase 2: A full-scale effort using extensive computing power (late August)
In late August 2025, capacity became available in our large-scale computing cluster, and we immediately allocated it to this case.
Technical analysis process
- Reorganized the client’s recollections and corrected the earlier direction of the investigation
- Rebuilt the candidate password database based on common human password creation patterns
- Applied the latest cryptographic analysis technology from the United States
- Deployed a large-scale computing cluster for high-speed parallel verification using GPUs
- Adjusted the strategy dynamically and prioritized the most likely combinations
Password successfully cracked
August 29, 2025
With large-scale computing power, we successfully cracked the password in less than a week!
We successfully withdrew the 10 ETH that had been locked away for five years. Without the inaccuracies in the password clues provided by the client, the password could have been cracked even sooner.
An Unexpected Benefit of Time
The most interesting aspect of this case was an unexpected benefit that came with the passage of time.
Price comparison
Mid-April 2025 (when engaged): ETH ≈ USD 1,500 August 29, 2025 (when cracked): ETH ≈ USD 4,500 Price change: Approximately tripled
Only dates and amounts are provided to protect the client’s privacy
When Suzuki contacted us, ETH was priced at approximately USD 1,500. The relatively small amount meant we could not immediately allocate large-scale computing power. Combined with errors in the password information provided by the client, this delayed the successful cracking until August 29.
On the day the password was cracked, ETH had reached approximately USD 4,500.
Suzuki therefore not only recovered the assets, but also unexpectedly benefited from their market value increasing to roughly three times its earlier level.
The technical delay ultimately brought an unexpected benefit as time worked in the client’s favor. Of course, this was luck and is not something we can promise. What we can promise is that we will not give up.

Client Testimonial
“For those five years, I was afraid to open that wallet. Knowing the assets were there but being unable to access them is a feeling I cannot put into words.”
“I tried all kinds of password combinations and consulted several people. In the end, I gave up. I decided to think of the money as though it had never existed.”
“When I contacted them in April 2025, I honestly did not expect much. After waiting several more months, I thought it was going to be another failure.”
“When they contacted me on August 29 to say they had cracked the password, I could not believe it at first. Then I realized the coin’s price had tripled.”
“Not only had I recovered my assets, but their value had unexpectedly tripled. What I am most grateful for, though, is that even after I had given up, they kept going on my behalf.”
